Manorama: Six Feet Under

It's all about the power of money

The natural order of things!

Manorama: Six Feet Under is a film inspired by Roman Polanski's movie Chinatown (1974) directed by Roman Polanski. This movie is written and directed by Navdeep Singh.

Satyaveer (Abhay Deol) is a Govt. Engineer who lives in the godforsaken desert, the village of Lakhot, Rajashtan. Satyaveer has been suspended from his duties in taking petty bribes. His wife is constantly teasing him about his financial condition. Despite that, in his spare time, he writes detective novels. Manorama, his first debuted novel, only sold 200 copies. Though he is a writer, he doesn't have a single copy of 'Manorama' giving the reason it reminds him of his failure.

One day a lady comes to his house telling him that 'Manorama' is her favorite book. She is the wife of  P.P.Rathore (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), the irrigation minister. She thinks her husband is having an affair and she needs proof of it. She wants Satyaveer to catch him redhanded and click photos. In addition, she asks him to remember her name 'Manorama' and she is 32 years old. He accepts her offer. However, from here on, his life takes a different turn.

Abhay Deol has shown great acting potential with his underplay and given justice to the role.

Shahid Kapoor is good at both the characters and Priyanka Chopra as usual is the best, her Marathi accent is pleasing. The music is by Vishal Bharadwaj is very good. Certain scenes remind us of Tarantino's movies. Amol Gupte as Bhope Bhau is an actor to watch out for after Shahid. Other Marathi actors have also given the best performance.

Andhadhun

What is life? It depends on the liver.

This movie was released on 5 October 2018, Co-written and directed by Sriram Raghavan. This black comedy suspense thriller movie is inspired by the short film 'L'Accordeur' by Oliver Treiner, produced by Thibault Gast, Matthias Weber.

Sriram Raghavan has proved himself as the best director after Ek Hasina Thi (2004), Johnny Gaddaar (2007), and Badlapur (2015).

Andhadhun is the story of Akash (Ayushman Khurana) a blind pianist living in Pune, who is a witness (Eyewitness) to a murder. He was invited by the yesteryear actor Pramod Sinha (Anil Dhawan) to his house for giving a surprise on their anniversary to his young-glamorous wife Simi (Tabu) whose film ambitions are still alive. When the pianist Akash reaches home, Simi opens the door. He sees the body of Pramod Sinha and a third-person bodybuilder is present in the scene. These people assume that Akash is blind and here the darker story unfolds.

The film, however, unquestionably belongs to Tabu for her incredible performance.

Anil Dhawan returns to the screen after a long time and it is good to see his movie. Ayushman Khurana leaves an impression again with his performance. Radhika Apte and Tabu have brought their characters to life to the fullest.

The four colors of the Ludo game have been used intelligently.

O betaji, O betaji

Kismet ki hawa kabhi naram kabhi garam

O betaji.....

Evergreen song from the movie Albela is beautifully entwined, sung by Sattu Bhaiya humorously creating tension on the face of his colleagues.

Child artist actor Inayat Verma as Abhishek's partner is a different experience in itself.

Abhishek Bachchan gets into his always-likable angry mode and plays the role of a tough guy who has a soft heart. Special mention has to be given to Pankaj Tripathi and Rajkumar Rao for their brilliant performance.

The background music by Pritam is excellent.

Ludo is another class film by Anurag Basu. writing, direction, and acting of all are outstanding.

The concept of four stories running around and interconnected to each other just like a game of Ludo makes the film interesting.
